Reiki

Reiki is a therapy often described as palm healing or hands-on-body healing in which a practitioner places hands lightly on or over a patient’s body to facilitate the patient’s process of healing.

Reiki is a Japanese energy therapy that promotes relaxation and healing. It acts both physically, improving our health as well as mentally and emotionally, by helping us to relax and relieve stress disorders and anxiety.
This is a wonderful hands-on-body healing technique that helps liberate the blocked energy pathways in specific areas of our body, in order to harmonise the vital energy points (chakras) and to promote our body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Reiki is an ancient practice of Tibetan origin, which almost fell into oblivion until it was rediscovered and developed in 1920 thanks to Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk, considered to be the first Reiki Master.
Nowadays, Reiki has been recognised as a complementary therapy by the World Health Organisation (WHO): not only is it compatible with any medical treatment, Reiki also acts as a wonderful complement to it.
Reiki has become very popular in many countries and particularly in hospitals where Reiki sessions are offered to cancer patients in addition to chemotherapy, to maintain the physical strength they need to support their treatment, reduce the side effects of chemotherapy so as to cope with the medication.
During a Reiki session, the patient lies fully dressed on a massage table, while the therapist channeling energy, lightly lays his hands on or over different areas of the patient’s body, starting with the head and ending with the feet. The positions of the hands of the therapist are maintained during a few minutes until the energy flows again and the body recovers its balance. The patient usually experiences deep states of relaxation, most of the time falling asleep .
Within Feelharmony studio, I welcome you in a calm and restful space where you can listen to soothing music to help yourself fully relax. The Reiki sessions that I propose have a duration of 45 minutes, but may vary up to 1 hour depending on the patient.

In 2012, I certified Usui Reiki Level 1, followed in 2013 by Level 2 and then Level 3 in 2014.. During 3 years from 2013 to 2015, I also collaborated as a volunteer with the ” Fundación Sauce”, offering Reiki sessions to cancer patients in the oncology unit (day hospital, bone marrow and transplant unit and Palliative Care) at the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid.
